Holiday Blues...a little

It's not as bad this year as I thought it might be. Then again it started out somewhat somber and blah and got much better as it's neared Christmas. The weird thing is I haven't really noticed a change in my behavior, yet when I mentioned that this year seemed to be especially difficult, my family told me they're used to it. When I asked, they said I've been this way for a few years, ever since I got back from Alabama. That was an attempt to get away from home, only to learn I moved too far.

Anyway, it wasn't anything I'd noticed, but obviously others had. So, I entered this season in much the same way. Just sort of took it one day at a time, focused on work (retail really picks up this time of year) and spent a lot of time watching movies. Didn't really get into the decorating spirit, ended up working when my family went to get the Christmas tree and did most of my Christmas shopping online.

Then, yesterday, the best thing happened! I've been busy announcing and sharing the news elsewhere, or I'd have come right here to share it with you. I SOLD A BOOK! That's right. After 3 long years of trying, I finally sold a book to a publishing house with whom I've dreamed of being an author. So many authors with them are good friends of mine, and I'm thrilled to be part of the team.

It's only the beginning, but this Christmas got much better with that news. After that, I received an email that I had won a free book from a favorite author and good friend. Then, today I was told I'm getting 6 hours of OT at work because the regional manager is requiring all staff to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'm already at 40 hours for this week, so I'm getting OT. Works for me! God's blessing, without a doubt.

Hope your Christmas contains something joyous to celebrate. Will check in again before Christmas day. Much love to you.
