All right, so if I don't know by now, I'm a writer. Although, if you're reading this, our relationship has progressed to a point of intimacy where there's no doubt in my mind that you know. *g*
Anyway, I was chatting with a fellow writer and friend tonight about plot and conflict and tension. They along with the characters drive the story. The conflict and tension between the characters keeps the reader engaged and the plot gives the unifying strands that tie the emotionally charged scenes together. Some of my favorite books and movies are where the hero and heroine are head over heels for each other but refuse to admit it. There are also the ones where circumstances keep the H/H apart, but the denial factor is a strong pull for me.
However, when you're the one IN the story, it's not as enjoyable. The rollercoaster of emotions isn't as much fun as reading about or watching other people endure it. Then again, just like the highs and lows and adrenaline rush that both thrills and brings you back down to earth, the fun can be found. As long as I know where it's going and have an assurance that the rollercoaster won't change its location or move to a different park, I can handle just about any twist, turn, plummet, rise or change the ride throws my way.
And I'm a big rollercoaster fan. So, keep that in mind for future reference. *g*
